Short term administration of hydrazine sulfate was better than a placebo in maintaining body weight and improving appetite in patients with advanced cancer in the current clinical experience. The weight effect apparently resulted from an increase in the effectiveness of the ingested calories, since a higher proportion of patients who increased their caloric intake on hydrazine were able to maintain or improve their body weight.
